History

1982

The Start of Robots

Abrasive blast manipulators were first developed in the early 1980s by Tammec, a subsidiary of Tampella. Tampella was a large and successful Finnish engineering company in the mining industry. The first installation was carried out in Tampella’s own workshop in 1982.

1985

From Device to Product

The very first robot with an automated control system and programming capabilities, was proudly delivered to Valmet in Jyväskylä, Finland in 1985.

A year later in 1986, exports followed as Blastman Robotics supplied Tudor workshop in Sweden with an automated and programmable blast cleaning robot.

1997

Blastman Robotics Ltd

In 1997 Rautaruukki decided to concentrate on its core business, steel production, and Blastman Robotics Ltd became an independent company continuing the development, construction and marketing of its robots worldwide.

2010

Evolution of Robots

In 2010 Blastman launched its third generation of blast cleaning robots. These robots are completely servo driven and equipped with the newest technology. At this time Blastman had also expanded its product line to include blast pots, manlifts and complete surface treatment lines.
