Scaling up with automated blasting – How Blastman supports Muijs Containerreparatie's growth
When Muijs Containerreparatie sought a solution to enhance their blasting efficiency and improve working conditions, they turned to Blastman Robotics. Specializing in container repairs and surface treatment, Muijs needed a system that could handle old containers with heavy paint layers, ensuring speed, consistency, and safety. Blastman provided an automated blasting solution that transformed their operations.
Streamlining production with Blastman’s automated blasting system
Before implementing the robotic blasting system, Muijs relied on manual blasting, which limited their daily output to just two containers. Since integrating Blastman’s technology, production has surged dramatically. “Now, we are blasting around 15 to 20 containers per day, and if we want, we could handle even more,” says Leko Muijs, General Manager of Muijs Containerreparatie.
The transition to automation came with a learning curve. However, the ability to fine-tune processes allowed Muijs to achieve optimal performance fairly quickly.
“The first three months after the robot was installed included a lot of trying and learning of how to make programs. This is of course a challenge everyone faces and already after 3-6 months we had defined solid programs,” Muijs explains.
Addressing challenges with Blastman’s expertise
Operating in an environment with old containers meant that dust accumulation posed a significant challenge. As Muijs’ blasting chamber was initially designed for blasting new workpieces, the system had to endure more dust than it was meant to. This caused, for example, the hoses to wear out quickly.
“Blastman stepped in right away with tailored dust control solutions that resolved our issue. The situation was handled very quickly and efficiently,” Muijs recalls.
Beyond technical solutions, Muijs emphasizes the value of reliable support. “If I send them an email, I receive a response within a few hours. Sometimes, it might end up building into a chain with 5-6 people sharing ideas with me—or with each other. I like that. What’s more, I always get a follow-up to ensure everything is fine. Problems are solved very fast with Blastman,” he states.

Blastman’s commitment to customer success extends beyond installation. Its aftersales services provide contracts either during projects or for existing customers, including scheduled maintenance, programming services, and any process-related assistance, as well as spare parts supply to enable customers to maximize uptime and system longevity.
Muijs Containerreparatie recently renewed its Service Contract, ensuring continued maintenance and spare parts availability. “Everything is running smoothly,” Leko Muijs notes, adding about the importance of cooperation.
“Some companies simply provide the machinery. Blastman’s approach goes beyond that—it's about long-term partnership and operational reliability. For us, also the procuring of new robots in the future is easier and faster because we already know we can lean on Blastman. That trust is crucial,” Muijs emphasizes.
Expansion of automated blasting
With Blastman’s aid, Muijs has doubled its painting capacity. Encouraged by the success of its robotic blasting system, Muijs has built a second painting chamber and is expanding its operations by building a third and creating new business.
“We are starting an extra company solely for blasting and painting metal structures,” Muijs reveals. The investment in automation has not only improved speed and quality but also enhanced workplace safety and employee well-being.
